Total Energy Challenge
In finance, the saying goes, "you spend money to make money." Or more simply, you invest in your future. This idea holds true in other areas as well, such as fitness. Anyone who has worked out regularly will tell you they feel more energetic and powerful, even though they spend hours exerting their energy and power. Why is this?
Simply because you spend energy to make energy. Energy, inherently is active. It moves every part of you. After your team wins, during a festival, after a run, you feel alive. Full of life. That's total energy flowing through you.
Mental and emotional energy is no different. It must be expended in order for more energy to be created. You activate it through practice, improving your focus and productivity. You build reserves of it to keep you resilient. You let it go to enable your creativity and free thinking. In a modern world built on knowledge work, there nothing more important than one's total energy.
When people ask me, "Why should I meditate for 20 minutes when I could finish another task?" Or, when they say, "I don't have time to meditate for 5 minutes," I'm confused. Not just because I believe in meditation, but because I hear them saying, "I don't have time to be healthier, wealthier, and wiser." I'm not sure what other task could be more important.
It's on the premise that mental and emotional energy must be spent in order to create more of it that I am starting the Total Energy Challenge. It's a combination of meditation and journaling with group discussion. It's an investment in oneself for the future. And more importantly the present, because you'll notice greater energy in your life within the first few weeks.
Based on the science of habit formation, this challenge will be exactly 21 days. During these 3 weeks, I will ask you to meditate and journal for 20 minutes a day, every single day. Once a week, I will hold a conference call with everyone to discuss how things are going, what the roadblocks are, and how they can get past them.
Many people I talk to in my seminars and coaching have said they struggle with maintaining a meditation and journaling practice, though they know it's good for them. Well, this is a chance to build good habits and invest in something that will build ever-lasting mental and emotional energy.
